What we do
Helicopter Tour Guide helps people plan helicopter tours and scenic flights in Australia. We publish guides to popular destinations, including the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsundays, Uluru and Kata Tjuta, the Kimberley and the Bungle Bungles, and the Twelve Apostles; to types of flights, from short scenic joy flights to heli-picnics, doors-off photography flights and learning to fly; and to planning and safety, including choosing an operator, what to expect on the day, weather and cancellations, and helicopters versus fixed-wing scenic flights. Our group planner works out how many flights your group needs.
About this domain
helicoptertour.com.au hosted a generic helicopter tour article and directory site in the early 2010s. It later lapsed and was parked. The domain was relaunched in 2026 as an independent guide, and every page has been written from scratch. We aren't connected with any previous operator, any tour company or any business with a similar name, and we don't sell flights.
How we research
We base our guides on authoritative sources, including:
- the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), Australia's aviation safety regulator;
- the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB), which investigates aviation accidents and incidents;
- Airservices Australia and the Bureau of Meteorology;
- park authorities and UNESCO for the places flights visit;
- consumer law guidance from the ACCC.
We list sources on every page and show when each guide was last updated. We don't invent prices, safety statistics, reviews or operator rankings. Read our editorial policy.
Safety first
Commercial helicopter flights in Australia operate under CASA rules, but standards and experience still vary between operators. Our guides explain what to check and what to expect. They are general information, and your pilot's instructions always come first.
How we're funded
We may earn a commission from some links and from clearly labelled featured listings. This never affects what our guides say. See our editorial policy and feature your business page.
